RSS feeds et les monsteurs

My supper was still warm!
Well, there is an overwhelming amount of information, amazing photos, delicious recipes, news etc out there in cyber space. Keeping up with it all would be a full time occupation.
Bloglines search tool is easy to use - could get quite carried away adding feeds to my bloglines - there is a sense of obligation to continually look and see if there is anything new. Alternatively saving these site to favourites and looking at them in an occassional free space when I choose not to relax and read, or go on an island adventure and be king of the wild things, takes away that sense of urgency and the feeling that I must keep up with all this.
Have looked at newsburst (CNN), newsblog (UK), newsgater (could spend all day here looking at links: podcasts, videos, music...).
Topix.net is easy to use but again there is so much stuff there you could fill in vast tracts of time exploring it.
