Generally I bookmark favourite and frequently used sites. I guess if you want to be more sophisticated you use Rollyo. It seems there are many ways to acheive the same end - RSS feeds; tagging things through del.icio.us - all ways of accessing things from one point. As you can create a search roll around a particular subject it could be a useful and efficient way of organizing recommended and frequesntly used sites at the Ref desk.
L'historie continue...

Plutot, j'explore 'Library Thing'
A guache: an eclectic mix of recent reads. Titles I couldn't find were 'Coromandel' by Ian Robinson & 'The camel who crossed Australia' by Jackie French.
Try them, you might like them!
Could spend a lot of time on Library Thing checking out what else people who've read one of your book selections have read and browsing reviews.
A useful tool if you choose to catalogue your own personal library with the ability to add tags.
Can be integrated with OPAC broadening this out with reviews and recommendations.
If you're into chatting online you can create an online book club.

You Tube
"http://www.bigstorytime.com/rss/bigstorytime.xml">
You Tube has clips ad infinitum to amuse, intrigue and otherwise occupy as much time as you want to spend there.
Have a look at some of the clips from Louie Giglio's 'Indescribable' DVD, and check out 'laminin' and the Whirlpool Galaxy on Google. After looking at the shape of laminin (the glue that literally holds us together) and what's in the nucleus of the Whirlpool Galaxy - a spectacular spiral galaxy visible with binoculars from earth, ask yourself if there is a Creator and consider the message of the Cross.

Reseautage personnel, en Anglais - social networking

Social networking - you love it or you hate it - even some teenagers I spoke to couldn't be bothered with the likes of Facebook or Bebo stating they would rather chat online on MSN. So it all depends on your style really. Great if you have friends and family spread around the world and could (and does) work well in a library situation as it gives an interactive interface to customers - and potential customers. Has been successfully used in many libraries in NZ and elsewhere often as a point of contact with teens where they can post their thoughts. Bottom line is we need to be useful and relevant therefore need to be innovative and creative in how we connect with our community.
Del.icio.us by Mr Grinling
A mixed seafood salad, a lighthouse sandwich, peach surprise, iced sea biscuits, cold chicken garni, sausages and crisps, drinks and assorted fruits..a particularly appetising lunch!Ohh, you mean that tagging thing - we lighthouse keepers are very technologically savvy!
I like the way I can access this from any computer - I have a laptop in my lighthouse and can while away the time in between polishing the lamp and chasing away those pesky seagulls by browsing all my favourite sites - 'daily' is a useful tag!
I also like the way you can combine tags and that every tag page has an URL - makes it easy to send things on to others (that way I know Mrs Grinling gets all those delicious sandwich filling ideas) and I don't have to remember which folder I might have put something in just what word or words I might have used. Can also check what's hot for specific topics and discover other sites through other peoples tags.
For you librarians out there, there is definite potential for research assistance. FYI we lighthouse keepers have our own wiki "ship spotting" - LOL!
L'histoire continue...
Wiki wiki woo!
Well, it rhymes!
Wiki's - they're great and Wikipedia whether you love it or hate it is hugely popular with kids - their first port of call.
Wiki Answers are useful too.
Being able to use a wiki space for collaborative work has definite potential - editing things live rather than endless emails backwards and forwards amongst a working group. Being able to limit who it is open to is a plus for this type of project.
There is potential to have a wiki for YA's where they can post reviews and comments, make suggestions for library events....something they have ownership of.
Open world Catalogue : ability to have a subject guide reflecting the interests of users; patron comments and reviews.

Flickr Fun & mashups
Delicieuse! Exquis!Flickr Fun is fun - lots to fill in your spare time with here.
Have played around with layout on my blog using 'add a gadget' to put in my slideshow and place it exactly where it is. Uplifted this from Picassa web albums - lots of intriguing things to look at here and very easy to copy a slideshow to your blog.
L'histoire continue:

Views of the Abbey at Iona off the coast of Scotland.
Also known as Chaluim Cille or St Columba's Island. St Columba (the dove) was exiled from Ireland in 563 apparently arriving at Iona in his little corracle thus bringing Christianity to Scotland.
George MacLeod founded the Iona Community in 1938. The Community is still there and run residential courses - they also have a yummy cafe.
Reccommended read: George MacLeod: founder of the Iona Community by Ronald Ferguson
A continuer anon...

Bonjour l'etoile brilliante. Le monde parle 'salut'
So much fun - almost as much fun as my great glass elevator - oh, I'm talking about Generator Blog. Made a word cloud of some of my favourite sweets, did a face lift on a customer (my photo needed no enhancing.) Have made a magnigraph of myself - might frame it and present it to young Charlie Bucket. Have not yet posted my customer - who could it be???? Sept 5th - she has now made a royal appearance!
Also had fun with some signs on letterjames.

RSS feeds et les monsteurs

Have completed week 2 - will write at greater length about this later - a forest is growing within my room....
A bientot

My supper was still warm!
Well, there is an overwhelming amount of information, amazing photos, delicious recipes, news etc out there in cyber space. Keeping up with it all would be a full time occupation.
Bloglines search tool is easy to use - could get quite carried away adding feeds to my bloglines - there is a sense of obligation to continually look and see if there is anything new. Alternatively saving these site to favourites and looking at them in an occassional free space when I choose not to relax and read, or go on an island adventure and be king of the wild things, takes away that sense of urgency and the feeling that I must keep up with all this.
Have looked at newsburst (CNN), newsblog (UK), newsgater (could spend all day here looking at links: podcasts, videos, music...).
Topix.net is easy to use but again there is so much stuff there you could fill in vast tracts of time exploring it.
Syndic8.com and technorati blocked.

C'est la vie!

Ou est mon gants? et mon evantail? Mary Ann! cherchez vous dedans la maison. Je suis en retard! Je suis en retard!
Que est-ce que c'est 'RSS'?
Followed the instructions diligently but to no avail - only 2 entries appeared on my Feeds and they haven't appeared on my blog so will try la methode de Phillipe. Also unsuccessful. I feel like I'm going around in circles.
Would really like to add photos and play around with layout to make the blog more interesting...so... watch this space!
A bientot mes amis!
